Adelaide Newborn: Casting Call Session Two
Well the casting call sessions are well and truly underway now! Yesterday I met little Baby S here, who at just 2.8kgs was perfect for the some of the ideas I have been wanting to work on for a while now. I seem to have had quite a run of larger babies lately (even the twins I have been doing have been over 3kgs!) so I was very taken with how sweet and small this gorgeous little girl was. In fact her parents are lucky I didn’t try to pop her in my pocket and run off with her .
One of the best things about specialising in newborn photography is watching how in love parents are with their new baby. You could feel the love and adoration these three have for each other in everything they did.
Adelaide Breastfeeding Portraits
The breastfeeding relationship between a mother and baby is such a precious thing, even more so when it’s been as much of a struggle as it has been, and is still, for these two. Due to Baby K’s food intolerances her mother is unsure how much longer she will be able to breastfeed her. So Mum wanted to be sure to have some portraits of them breastfeeding together – both to celebrate making it this far and in case they don’t have much longer.
They are so beautiful together, and check out how happy Baby K is after her feed!
Adelaide Baby: Casting Call Session One
So the casting casting call have begun. This is Baby E, curled up and sleeping just like a newborn – and nearly 12 weeks old. She made us work for it, though really, who does want to be poked, prodded and posed while sleeping? I also had a few things to learn about trying to make newborn style portraits with an older baby (they aren’t so bendy!). But between Baby E, her mother and I we figured it out in the end.
The photo on the left is almost the photo I was aiming to get from this session and given how close we got I am thrilled with it. I am also thrilled that it’s far from the only beautiful portrait that we made.
Thank you so much Baby E for posing so beautifully and to your mum for her patience and wonderful calm.
Mini Maternity
Today a shot my first session in Adelaide, it was an exciting moment. Ironically enough this gorgeous family aren’t Adelaide residents! They are currently living in Ceduna and are just visiting for the school holidays. As you can see baby may arrive any day now so it’s anyones’ guess whether I will manage to sneak their newborn session in before they go home. Perhaps I will be making a trip to Ceduna in the near future!
Casting Call
I realise I have been pretty quite lately. The move to Adelaide was quite an undertaking and it also turned out to be rather more difficult than expected to secure daycare for Grace, so I really haven’t been in a position to get things moving again at Little Feet. But all my ducks are finally in a row now AND the Australian Professional Photography Awards are looming!
So with the combined goals of launching Little Feet in Adelaide, getting my creative juices flowing again (or should I say working off some of my longing to capture babies) and hopefully generating some fabulous new work to enter into the APPAs I am beyond excited to announce a casting call.
I have a bunch of ideas I would like to try out and I can’t always do that at a “normal session” (for fear of waking the baby) so here’s the deal:
Casting call sessions will :
- Be complimentary and will still include the $150 print credit that is included with my standard session fee ($400). There is no obligation to purchase further prints or packages, however they may be purchased at regular rates, please see the pricing section of this website for details.
- Be intended to capture a particular image or series I have in mind – so that will be the priority of the session, extra images will be captured where possible.
- Require a model release.
Casting Calls sessions are currently available for:
- Newborn Triplets
- Breastfed Twins – babies do not need to be newborn
- Dark skinned newborn, any ethnicity, preferably with older sibling/s
Newborn baby under 3kgs, father available for sessionNewborn with Athletic Daddy – must not have long hair & must be happy to pose for skin to skin photos with babyOlder baby (approximately 8-12 weeks) – baby must be a good sleeper in general- Please note that all newborns must be less than 10 days old at the time of the session, preferrably 5-7 days old (or in their first week home from hospital in the case of prematurity, minimal NICU stay is preferable)
If you are interested in one of these sessions and believe your family would be suitable please email me: jo [at] littlefeetphotography [dot] com [dot] au.
Places are limited and will be offered purely at my discretion. Because I have very particular goals for these sessions, I may require a photo of baby or family members, or even of your home before I can offer a session. If you are not offered a session please don’t be offended – this is not a beauty contest it’s purely about making a portrait that I can already see in my head!
And finally – I will be spreading these sessions out over the coming months to leave room for clients wanting standard sessions, so I am looking for babies due in (very) late March, April, May and June.
