Sneak Peak: Baby C

Baby Charlie and Siblings - Sydney Newborn Photographer

Remember these guys? Who I was so sad I wouldn’t be able to do a newborn session for? Well guess who managed to arrive into the world the one day I was in Sydney last week? It goes without saying I changed my flight home and squeezed in a second session. It was a crazy day but SO worth it!

Little baby C is just 9 hours old here – he didn’t even have a name yet! Being so new I just assumed he would be the easiest model ever, but no. He was not impressed by my camera and I, not at all! We had to work really hard to get the shots we did. I was there for over 3 hours and all of these portraits were captured in the last 20 minutes before I left in a mad dash for the airport! Just as well he has such loving, patient parents (and siblings), it helps to be gorgeous too :-) .

Sneak Peak: Baby T

Baby Theo - Sydney Newborn Photographer

Well, I am officially up and running again after a very crazy January – full of endless last minute things that had to be done in Sydney and then finally making the move to Adelaide – and what better way to kick things off than with this beautiful little guy.

Baby T was 8 days old when his mother called me about a session last Wednesday. Between their commitments, my commitments and the time pressure to get the session in as soon as possible we realised that the only possible day was the very next day! Sounds rushed? Well it was! Even more so because I had to unpack all of my stuff and figure out how much I could squeeze into a suitcase then cart it all the way back to Sydney for the day!

And you know what. It was SO much fun. Shooting newborns is such a passion for me and it was wonderful to be back at work, especially with such a beautiful family. I often get last minute calls like this and as hard as I try it’s probably less than half the time that I can squeeze people in. The great irony here is that if Baby T’s family had called any sooner my head would have been so deep in the moving process that I would have told them I just couldn’t do it – so it really was all for the best in this particular case.

Thanks for bringing me to Sydney guys! I will let you know the very minute your images are ready.

Sneak Peak: Baby L

Do you remember this little guy? Well he’s not quite so little anymore – but just as cute! As you can see we just had to get down to the beach for a few shots this time too. I can’t tell you how much I am going to miss Sydney’s beaches. When I come back for mini session events expect a lot of them to be held at the beach!

Baby L is the first of my 2008 newborns to come back for his second “sitting”. In fact we actually had to delay his session by a month to make sure he would be sitting for us and it was so worth it. After the newborn stage six to nine months is a great age for a follow up session – when your baby is still so small, but has changed a lot and is sitting, smiling and laughing. This is the age to get gorgeous interacting (awake!) images to go with your curly, sleepy newborn portraits.

How cute is this little girl? I love it when baby’s reach that age when they will just gaze at you forever, or give you a huge smile. And I love to capture such classic stages in a baby’s development. Somebody I know is definitely experiencing a hands in the mouth stage at the moment :-) .

4 days and counting

Well, our days in Sydney are now well and truly numbered. The packers come in 4 days! In the mean time we are trying to catch up with as many of our dear friends as possible… I have quite a few photos I can’t share (who remembers to get a model release signed in the middle of a party? I certainly don’t!) but I am trying to make sure my girls will have photos to remember all of their special friends when we are in Adelaide. These are just the ones from today.
